Nanae Fujiwara
Nanae Fujiwara received her A.A. and A.F.A from William Rainey Harper College. While studying classical guitar with Steve Vazquez, Nanae first learned how to express her emotions through the guitar. At Northeastern Illinois University she furthered her studies and received a B.M. in Classical Guitar Performance under the guidance of Dr. Brian Torosian. Nanae has gained vast knowledge and techniques from attending masterclasses with Grammy Award winners Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, William Kanengiser, Denis Azabagic, Elena Papandreou, Alan Goldspiel, Richard Provost, Anne Waller, and Mark Maxwell. Through her studies at Northeastern, Nanae discovered her passion not only lies in guitar but also in conducting. Having taken three advanced courses in conducting, she gained podium experience conducting the NEIU Wind Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, and Chamber-Singers, where she took the stage as a conductor. Nanae’s dream is to lead her own guitar orchestra someday.
