Concert Series

Join us for an evening of music, September through April, for the David Adler Center’s Concert Series. We’ll present a different faculty or guest artist or ensemble every month. Refreshments and an opportunity to meet the musicians will follow each concert.

Leanne Araya: Voice

Saturday, April 15, 2017, 7pm

Leanne Araya

Calling to mind the likes of beloved Brazilian singers, Leanne Araya has often been called a “carioca” or “the girl from Ipanema,” though she is a native Chicagoan.

Leanne holds a music degree in jazz studies, and often finds herself singing the Great American Songbook. But she is most strongly influenced by Antonio Jobim, Gal Costa, and Caetano Veloso, to name a few. She is always noticed for her light, rhythmic, bossa nova voice, but she sings across many genres.

Leanne’s voice was featured in Mattel’s “Barbie in a Christmas Carol”, and several times on the Oprah show for artists such as Seal, Aretha Franklin, and Usher.

Featuring: Leanne Araya, vocalist; Stuart Seale, pianist
